Kivotos Mykonos: Luxury Boutique Hotel in Mykonos

What started as a vision for a family villa back in 1993 was turned into a sophisticated holiday haven for the art connoisseurs and the bon vivant in search of personalised hospitality in one of the best summer destinations in the world — the island of Mykonos.  A family owned and managed luxury hotel — Kivotos Mykonos is a reflection of each of the Michopoulos family members, who lovingly add a personal touch to the hotel’s unique character.

Over the years Kivotos has welcomed many affluent and royal guests, like Jean Paul Gaultier, John Legend, Shakira, George Michael and Prince Albert II of Monaco.

Kivotos Mykonos offers 39 exquisitely designed guest rooms and suites, as well as a private villa with its own private beach access and swimming pool. Also check out our Guide to Best Beaches in Mykonos.

Kivitos Mykonos: Signature Suite Sea View

During our Mykonos getaway we spent two nights at Kivotos Mykonos in a Signature Suite Sea View. All the suites of this collection have an individual style and character. Our suite was located on the second level with floor-to-ceiling glass windows opening up to breathtaking views of the Ornos Bay.

The suites span across 40 to 70 square meters of space, featuring either Queen or King sized beds, with a separate sitting area and a bathroom with a Jacuzzi or bathtub and/or shower.

Our Suite was decorated with a comfortable white couch, a wooden table, separate working desk and a bar area with white leather bar stools.  The balcony had a couch and a table with two chairs.

The bathroom was a  piece of art on its own, decorated with a crystal chandelier, white marble and beautiful a gorgeous painting of a white seagull.

Our suite featured a bathtub, a full length mirror wall and in-bathroom flat screen television. The toiletries are Bulgari.

There is also a fully stocked mini-bar, espresso making machine and safe box in the room. Wi-Fi is complimentary.

Dining and Wining at Kivotos Mykonos

private dining by the sea at Kivotos Mykonos

At Kivotos Mykonos guests can relax in a tranquil and elegant atmosphere in one of the two restaurants and bars. For those looking for an exclusive, private experience  — can enjoy a sensational evening of fine-dining under the starry Myconian sky, either on the hotel’s private beach or onboard the hotel’s privately owned yacht “Prince de Neufchatel”.

On one of the evenings we had the honour to enjoy a private candle-lit dinner at the hotel’s secluded beach — a gorgeous romantic setting right on the waterfront. The royal like atmosphere of the private tent adorned with a beautiful velvet table covering, decorated with a fresh flower bouquet centrepiece — illuminated by a chandelier and the candlelight created a distinctive mood.

The menu was equally exquisite, we started with amuse bouche made of quinoa, shrimp and red caviar followed by an instant Greek salad gazpacho with grouper tartar and fresh oregano.

Afterwards we were served a warm crayfish carpaccio with lemongrass flavoured risotto. Before moving to the final main course  we savoured a delightful cod fillet  prepared with squid ink cream and chorizo espuma.

The last dish on the menu was a tender piece of veal fillet with salsify and mushrooms. The meal was paired with a fine strong Greek red wine Thema, made of Syrah grape variety with notes of spice, pepper, cinnamon and tobacco.

The beautiful meal ended with a chocolate panna cotta topped with crumbled biscuit and caramelised peach.

A Mediterranean-influenced American breakfast is served at the La Meduse restaurant overlooking the private beach and Ornos bay. Guests can enjoy a selection of cold cuts and cheeses, eggs, traditional pies, freshly baked goods, beads, fruits, cereals and yogurts.

Private yachting experience — Prince de Neufchatel

Guests staying at Kivotos Mykonos can also experience the services of a privately owned 25-meter schooner — the Prince de Neufchatel which is available for day cruises to nearby islands, private parties, romantic dinners and celebrations.

The charming sailing boat Prince de Neufchatel was initially built in New York by Adam and Noah Brown, and considered one of the fastest ships of the United States army in the war of 1812.

A copy of this fine boat was built in 1967 in Holland and was fully rebuilt in a Greek shipyard in 2008 with ultimate attention to detail, combining the brilliance of her kind with all the comforts of a modern yacht.

On our second day at Kivotos Mykonos we spent a couple of hours sailing on  Prince de Neufchatel as we headed towards the beautiful beaches of Mykonos.

The elegant wooden boat with 3 cabins, two doubles with queen size beds, one twin with berths, all with en-suite bathrooms can accommodate 6 guests. It can sail with 30 people onboard therefore making it an ideal choice for anyone who is looking for a party in the sea.

We had a fantastic afternoon sailing with the yacht’s skilled crew — Spiros, Lena and Captain Christos as we soaked up the sunshine, relaxing in the comfortable lounge chairs, drinking chilled Prosecco.

We enjoyed a delightful light lunch onboard which consisted of a fresh salad, seafood canapés and a selection of freshly cut fruits. Prince de Neufchatel offers various cruise options which you can see here.

Hotel Facilities

Guests staying at Kivotos Mykonos can also enjoy the facilities of the Spa, Swimming Pool, Neptune Fitness centre and private beach. During our stay we visited the SPA of Kivotos which offers a treatment menu that comprises of holistic treatments, massages, skin therapies, and facials. The brand used for face and body treatments is of the Anne Semonin collection. I enjoyed the Made-To-Measure Massage Ritual which is either a 55 or 85 minute treatment that focuses on releasing muscle tension and stimulate circulation with the use of unique oil blends from plants, flowers, seeds and leaves.

At Kivotos Mykonos guests can also participate in a series of yoga classes which I held in the morning and in the evening on the deck of the hotel’s private beach.
