This hotel was on my list of places to stay at least once in my lifetime. I wanted to experience the hospitality of this glamorous hotel as the name Martinez was always on the top of the places to be and to be seen. Yes the location is great as the hotel stands right on the prestigious La Croisette, overlooking the Bay of Cannes and Mediterranean Sea. I can’t say that I can rate this hotel as my number one favourite but it is worth to experience when traveling to Cannes. Upon arrival we decided to have some wine at the Bar l’Amiral, we ordered a bottle of wine and the nibbles only arrived towards the end, about 40 minutes late which is something that you wouldn’t usually except but as I have spent endless years in 5 star hotels it is on the top of the list of “service flop”.
In the evening we decided to try the “Le Relais” restaurant which has an Art Deco setting and an outside terrace overlooking the swimming pool.
We had dinner inside as it was raining on the day. I must say that it was one of my best dinners, the cuisine was spectacular and so was the service. I had the most delicious Cesar salad with shrimps which is a “must-try” and the dessert was out of this world (as you can see in the photos).
The rooms were comfortable, decorated in Art Deco style, but I must note that the bathroom was very spacious, which is not very common. One of the complimentary bathroom amenities was a shower mitt which is a great idea!
The Concierge department was outstanding and very helpful. Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Martinez!
