Mykonos Blu Grecotel Exclusive Resort

by ElenaSergeeva

Set on the renowned Psarou beach, Mykonos Blu Grecotel Exclusive Resort has become a favourite holiday spot for the rich and famous. If you do happen to follow the popular Instagram accounts of jet setters, celebs, models and fashionistas — snapshots of the resort have definitely appeared on your feed.

Perched above the turquoise waters of the Aegean Sea and surrounded by palm trees, this resort is a perfect blend of luxury, location and Cycladic architecture. The serene vibe of Mykonos Blu is emphasized by the spectacular infinity pool which opens up to dazzling sea views.

Here you will find plenty of comfortable and inviting lounge spots where you can simply escape the heat, find some peace and quiet or get lost within the pages of a book.

Mykonos Blu – harmonious blend of white and blu

Attention to detail at Mykonos Blu is spectacular, characterized by a minimalistic style with modern touches and refined service. We arrived on Mykonos just before noon and were transferred with the hotel’s Porsche Cayenne directly to the resort.

At the back seat of the car there was a welcome basket filled with refreshing towels, Evian water, sparkling water and some fresh fruit.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the hotel’s Guest Relations Manager Vasiliki Kapsioti who escorted us to the main lobby. The check – in process is very personalized and relaxing, exactly how it should be when you arrive to a beautiful resort destination. We were offered a selection of fresh fruit juices to choose from.

Once we were introduced to the services and facilities of the resort, Vasiliki  took us to our Island Suites. The accommodation at Mykonos Blu consists of bungalows, suites and various types of villas which are set on different levels.

Many suites and villas come with their own private pools for those seeking utmost privacy and luxury.

My suite was number 303 — open plan with a separate entrance, sitting area and garden.

The suite is a mix of traditional and contemporary design, spacious and dominated by white. The walls are thick and represent the traditional Cycladic architecture.

On the far end of the suite, a few steps led right into the bathtub. There is also a separate shower cabin in the room.

The welcome inside the room was very impressive. There was a fresh fruit platter, a selection of sweets (Greek, macarons and an orange flavoured milkshake). A bottle of Pol Rémy Brut Sparkling Wine and a bottle of Greek wine.

Suite facts:

  • There is a beach bag inside the room with beach towels, Evian face spray and a small bottle of sun lotion
  • Grecotel brand toiletries
  • During turn-down service there was a refreshing face mask left next to the bedside

Lunch by the pool

There are a number of dining options available at the resort. During lunch guests may enjoy the contemporary seafood and Mediterranean cuisine at the L’ Archipel brasserie overlooking Psarou beach.

We tried a few creations: fish carpaccio with avocado and finely sliced cucumber, octopus with fava, rocket leaves and capers and small Greek fish which is usually fried and a popular dish which can be found in tavernas. It was beautifully presented and served with baby potatoes and sauce.

Mykonos Blu is set on the famous Psarou beach, there is a private area that belongs to the hotel with sun beds and umbrellas. The beach can be accessed by the stairs directly from the pool area and the rest of the hotel.

In the afternoon Marissa and I took a walk down the beach to the renowned Nammos restaurant. The place was empty as it was October and nearly end of the season. In the summer it is the hotspot of the island.

Breakfast at Mykonos Blu

Breakfast at Mykonos Blu is always served until afternoon, which means guests can enjoy their beauty sleep after longs hours of partying.

And of course you are served breakfast with a magnificent view.

Inside the restaurant

It is a buffet breakfast with a dedicated Cretan corner like in other Grecotel properties serving traditional Greek delicacies and specialties from the company’s Agreco Farm in Crete.

There was a selection of eggs, bacon, cold cuts, cheeses, fresh fruits, yogurts and baked goods.

I fell in love with the hotel’s interiors, cushioned couches, ample space, the Greek island blend of white and blue and the small little details that make Mykonos Blu a true oasis.

If you feel like having a snack there is a small complimentary corner with flavoured water and freshly baked snacks. Oh! And the donkeys are just lovely.

A big thank you to Stelios Koumantakis, General Manager and his team for the excellent hospitality.
